SRP527W Config

Hi

could anyone help please?

We have a SRP527W that worked fine on our ADSL line. We have had an EFM line installed and are having trouble configuring the router after disabling the ADSL and factory reset. The EFM provider have given us a default gateway address, subnet mask and an IP range. We have tried using the info to setup the WAN but with no success.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thabks

Dean

Hi Dean,

Could you post some more information please? Perhaps some screen shots of the WAN configuration pages?

Disabling the ADSL interface is really all that needs to be done to enable LAN port 4 as the WAN interface.

Regards,

Andy

Hi Andy,

thank you for your response.

The internet IP address is one from the range  (242 to 246) provided. Subnet and Gateway as per instructions.

Thanks

Dean

Ok - have you configured a DNS server either in the Internet Options or DHCP Server pages?

If not, your clients won't be getting a server address, so won't be able to access any web sites.

(Previously, DNS would have been assigned automatically by the SP).

Andy

Hi Andy

I have configured the DHCP as below.

.

Thanks

Dean

That looks ok.

Have you tried using ping in the SRP diagnostics to see if you can reach the WAN default gateway, or addresses further afield?

Does your SP impose a maximum MTU value for your service?  If you are unsure, set the WAN MTU to something like 1200 to see if it makes any difference (I doubt it, but worth checking).

If that doesn't work, does your SP require you to tag your traffic (if VLAN aware)? If so, you can create a new sub-interface with the appropriate tag value and then assign your public IP address to this interface (remove address from the default interface first)

Andy

Hi Andy,

I can ping the gateway but no address further afield. Checked the MTU value but no difference.

I will have to check with SP on tag traffic but has not been mentioned by them, so unlikely.

Thanks

Dean

Hi Dean,

As you said that you had factory reset the device, I expect the following will be ok - Could you check that NAT is still enabled and that there are no NAT Bypass Rules active?

What does your routing table say?  (Status>Routing Table)

Could you also provide a screen shot of your Internet setup page?  (Does show a system default route?)

Andy
