WAP4410N as Repeater

Hi all,

Im having problems with setting up my cisco WAP4410N as a repeater to extend the signal of cisco E2500.

It works fine when there is no password to be set on both devices. But when either one of these devices had been
set a password on it, then WAP4410N failed to extend the signal of E2500.

I tried steps as below:

1. Same password type in WAP4410N and E2500.

2. Different password type in WAP4410N and E2500.

3. Set password in WAP4410N ONLY.

4. Set password in E2500 ONLY.

All steps above makes WAP4410N fail to extend the signal range of E2500.

** WAP4410N successfully works as a repeater to extend the signal of E2500 when there is no password to be set on both devices.

Your help is highly appreciated ...

Hello Alan,

There can be issues between the small business and home wireless devices. It is often due to different wireless chipsets.

It may be possible to get them working though.

Make sure that the WAP4410N is on the latest firmware. When using it like this, make sure that it is set to client/repeater mode. You will want to make sure that both have the same SSID and security and that they are on the same channel.

One thing to check for is to make sure that they wireless MAC is correct from the E2500.

The latest version of firmware for WAP4410N is 2.0.4.2 right? My WAP4410N is on version 2.0.4.2 firmware.

I tried both client/repeater mode and also WDS repeater mode. Both gave me the same result in which it works fine

when no password being set on either device (AP or E2500).

By using site survey, the SSID name and MAC address will be copied down directly into WAP4410N.

Btw, i did give it a double check. So, im pretty sure that the SSID name and the MAC address are correct.

I set channel 6 on both device. So, i guess it should be alright.

About the security issue, i did tried to use same security type as i mentioned above. But the same result it returned

to me. It only works fine as a repeater when there is no passphrase on both devices.

Is there any other issue/s will usually cause WAP4410N fail to work as a repeater with passphrase?
