Hi all,
Trying to get the boot system flash bootflash: command to work so I can change code versions if the latest one begins to have issues I can easily roll back. I enter the command:
boot system flash bootflash:asr1000rp1-advipservicesk9.03.03.01.S.151-2.S1.bin
end
wr
reload
and on reboot it still boots to the other image.
IOS XE Version: 03.06.02.S
System image file is "bootflash:asr1000rp1-advipservicesk9.03.06.02.S.152-2.S2.bin"
12.2(33r)XNC
Configuration register is 0x2102

The only way around this is to have only one image in the directory.

I'd be looking at the "sh run". There could be an exisiting boot statement. So when you added a second boot statement it could be added at the bottom.

I figured it out. Someone had loaded 3.7.x code to it as a pkg. which would allow you to do an ISSU. Once I removed all that pkg. files, it worked just like it should. I can swap back and forth between the .bin images with the "boot system" command at will.
