Hi All,

i am considering upgrade my current wan network to support new capabilities and 10Gbps interfaces between my PE & P routers.

the topology base on PE routers which are C6K running L3VPN & VPLS. The PE connected to my 7600 P routers in 1Gbps based on SIP-400 & SPA-1GE. the P router have wan interfaces based on POS OC-3.

i am intend to replace my C6K with ASR9K which shell have 10G interfaces towards the 7600.

at the 7600 i am thinking using one of the two:

1.WS-X6716 - i know this is LAN card which have limited QOS, but can i use it in my P router ?

2.ES+ 40 - which i know will support all i need but very expensive.

please advise,

Avi.

Hi Avi,

You don't have to replace your C6K router.  You can upgrade it to Sup-720 and use 10Gig interface.

If you can use fiber instead of copper, you can use an 8 port 10Gig module.  This module is 2 to 1 oversubscribed vs the 16 port is 4 to 1
