1721 E1 AL on

Hi chaps,

Wondering if any one can help me on this;

The AL-alarm LED on the E1 interface card inserted in 1721 is permanently on.

I have attached a copy of show int ip brief.Any reason why the status is showing reset and down please?

This router is new. IOS version is c1700-y-mz.123-6c.bin

Hi

You need to check the physical link which is getting connected onto the serial port.

At present its not up thats the reason you are getting reset/down as well as the alarm.

Ask for a local loop from your local Telco and check out for the loop on your interface.

you can verify the same using show interface serial 0:0 , once you are getting loop then both status and protocol will go up indicating looped condition..

Thanks for the response. The cct is tested loop ok.

When the router is not even connected to the link the AL on the WIC card-E1 stays on. Could it be that the router has got a wrong IOS loaded?
