1841 hangs...

Hi All,

Recently i upgraded my 1841 router with 1HWIC card  and using 4 mbps connection. After that my route geting hanged and after restart its start working.

its happening daily once. What may be the issue ? please help

IOS details :

When you say the router hangs. I am assuming that you get no throughput.

Are you able to connect to a VTY line (telnet, ssh)? Or get a response from the console?

As the current solution is to reset the router you are loosing all logs, setting up a syslog server may help identify what happens just prior to the crash.

Hi SP,

As George mentioned, we need to figure out if the hang affects only transmit traffic or if we have lost console access to the router as well.

If we have console access, I would recommend checking: CPU, memory, buffers, interfaces and if any errors are logged.

If we have no console access either, it will be more tricky but there is a procedure to get information:

If it turns out that we do not even have console access, you might consider upgrading the IOS because it is usually a software failure.

I am waiting for more update on this from my client.

i got the update that client can ping the router but internet is not working .

But after restart the internet started working.
