Please help.. is my 2610XM dead? I can ping the fa0/0 ip address I assigned to the apparently bad 2610XM but no other device can ping it. mac address doesn't show up in other devices after pinging the apparently dead 2610XM. show interface fa0/0 looks identical to routers that are working (up/up). All ip addresses are in the same subnet.
So... is there some way to activate the fa0/0 port to the outside world? Is there some other way to verify that it is dead? Attached "show tech-support" of each router. And below

show arp and sh ip route are below. The other devices connecting to it have been my laptop, an 1841 and 2610XM router. all of those devices interacted with pings just fine.
I cleared counters, pinged again, and there was no change.

Could you set the speed and duplex on both sides to 100/full and try again and if it fails can you try with another cable.

Hello Alain,
Actually, I would personally suggest going to the lowest possible technical demands, i.e. 10 Mbps, Half Duplex. Also, I would connect a PC directly to the router (using a verified crossover cable) and try to use Wireshark to see any frames being sent from the router. At least the LOOP, CDP and MOP frames should be sent every now and then (LOOP frames are sent roughly each 10s, CDP and MOP are sent every 60s). If absolutely nothing can be seen in the Wireshark even after configuring an IP address on the interface, perhaps even running a routing protocol on that interface that emits periodic Hello messages then I am afraid that the interface is fried.

alright, so I can see when I ping from the router it says "60 Bogus IP header length (0, must be at least 20)". Saw some other thread talking about reducing MTUs to 1200... ?
Nevermind, tried to change it on the interface fa0/0 and it said "Interface FastEthernet0/0 does not support user settable mtu."

also did a mop enabled on the interface fa0/0 and mop sysid. still see no MOP in wireshark. Thinking the port is fried. Anyone have good experiences with replacements from cablesandkits?

Cablesandkits was awesome with the replacement. They sent it out and I had it next day. Just printed the UPS label they sent me and will send the bad one back, no cost to me. Plus I learned more about troubleshooting :-) thx again for the help here. Take care.
