4500 series cisco switch

Hi every body

i was watching a you tube video  on 4500  series cisco switches.  I leaerned  before 2007,  the chassis available for 4500 series are: 4503R,4506R, 4507R and 4510R

In 2007 cisco introduced chassis  4503 E,  4510 E

I got the idea ---- the chassis( aften called  classic)  before  2007  have  no E, the chasis introduced in  2007  have E  such as 4510 E.

But then how would we explain 4510 R+E  or 4510R-E  chassis?   i mean what do these notation represent ?

thanks and have a great weekend.

"R" means Redundant supervisor engine capable.

+E means Higher backplane speed.

No.  The -E (4507R/4510R) provides either 6 or 24 Gbps per chassis slot, the +E also provides 48 Gbps per slot.

Chassis datasheet has the details, see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps4324/product_data_sheet0900aecd801792b1.html
