I have a 7200, which I received on loan. I'm trying to reset the password and thereafter reset it back to factory defaults.
>show version - Configuration register is 0x2100
rommon 1> confreg 0x2100
rommon 2> reset
System Bootstrap, Version 12.1 (200000710:044039) [nlaw-121E_npeb 117], Development Software

C7200 platform with 262144 Kbytes of main memory
---instead of reloading, it reverts to rommon 1>
rommon > boot
Decompresses image and arrives right back to Hostname> . The end result is the same regardless of whether I cycle the unit or cli boot.
I've had to break the boot sequence a couple of times. Although it has arrived at rommon and couple of times as well after a boot instead of hostname>
-I'm confused; any input on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JC

If you are trying to reset the password you are using the wrong configuration register, it should be 0x2142. See this document for a step by step guide -
