Dear all,

When adding a new 256M card to ant slot on BXL SUP, it shows up in log as inserted, but  am unable to format it and of course access it.

I tried formatting to FAT16 on my MacBook, card gets formatted but remains unaccessible.

Any thoughts would be appreciated !

TIA

Samir

Hi Samir,

Did you buy it from a 3rd part vender or through Cisco?  Not all 3rd party vender CF products work with Cisco devices.

Q. Are there any support issues with customers purchasing external Compact  Flash from a third-party vendor? Is there an approved vendor list?

A. Refer to www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/prod_warranties_item09186a00800b5594.html

Compact  Flash memory cards contain internal controllers. Typically vendors  change these internal controllers without notifying/marking it on the  outside, visible to the user. In internal engineering validation and  field trials, Cisco has found that the quality of these components  varies vastly, which in turn affects the life of the Compact Flash.  Therefore, Cisco does not support third-party Compact Flash.

In  addition, vendors approved by Cisco will provide failure analysis  reports for failed Compact Flash units, which is not available for  third-party Compact Flash.

Thanks Reza,

I will get hold of few cards from same vendor as the ones which are working: Sandisk will probably do the trick !

Many thanks

Samir
