A connectivity issue

I feel utterly ridiculous for asking this, But I have not been in a switch for a while.

I am just trying to set a 3750 for simple connectivity for testing, I set VLAN1 to 172.16.100.1 and my laptop to 172.16.100.2. I can ping the VLAN 1 IP from my laptop, but cannot ping my laptop from the switch. I have a default config except for VLAN 1, I have all 48 ports set to

sw mode access

sw access VLAN1

What is my problem?

Does your laptop have a firewall that will allow you to send pings and get responses, but not accept pings from the other direction?

II have disabled the Windows Firewall Service totally,

If you are sure the laptop doesn't have any firewall software blocking ping (very common issue) than turn on "debug ip icmp" and see if you get any reply back from the laptop.
