Alias Command (pix) in IOS

Hi,

I'm looking for a similar command in IOS to the "alias" command for PIX.

I have a setup where my internal clients need to reach a web server in the DMZ. The DNS response is the outside (official) IP address of the web server. I would like the Router to replace the official IP with the real web server IP(DMZ) but only when clients connecting from inside.

Any suggestion is welcome

Alain

I am sure you are looking for the Port to Application mapping command. If so, use the following command in global configuration mode:

ip port-map port

example : ip port-map http port 80

I think you are missing something here. As for making these both ip same you will have to connect the router directly first to change it. As we were facing the same issue at old lottery sambad office. But I was testing different things. When I connected the router directly so then the change of the ip option get shown.

ou can customize the alias command to execute any command or set of commands that you frequently use. To remove an alias command, you can use the "no alias" command followed by the name of the alias command.

Alain’s question about finding an alias command in IOS shows how important it is to have flexible solutions for network setups. It reminds me of how an Eiffel Tower photographer needs the right tools to adjust for lighting and angles to capture the perfect shot. Both tasks require careful planning and the right techniques to get the best results. I think having good support and clear options makes problem-solving much easier.
