Allocating dedicated router memory for vty processes

Hello All,

I am trying to figure out how I'd go about allocating a portion of memory that is always available for

vty (telnet) processes.

I am trying to do this cause I find that sometimes our router (Cisco 1603) reaches high memory utilization and

telneting to the device fails.

Some light on this topic will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, there is no way to reserve memory for a specific process. The two alternatives are either to find the root cause of the high memory utilization and upgrade to an IOS that fixes the issue or add more memory to the router.

Hope this helps,

The Cause of high memory utilization or processor utilization on cisco routers is due to large output produced on the telnet session. For eg issuing a sh tech-supprt sh runn etc might create a hike to the utilization on resources.

This might be a bug and there is a work around for this I have done it myself.

Hope this helps

Thnx

What was the work around to solve such a problem??

Thanks.

I had removed some privilege controller commands. That waz a 1700 router. As directed on cisco's site.Try to find a related bug
