in automatic protection switching in optical communication, normally one ring is back up ring right... so if one goes down then other link will take over ther primary ring role...

but what is the design for the Device level redundancy... is that HSRP GLBP etc. or there are others redundancy technologies are used... if yes then any one can tell me which are those...?

regards

Yes if one of the links goes down the other will automatically come back up.Device-level features help ensure that the switches used to provide network connectivity have built-in redundant features in both hardware and software, thus reducing the chances of device failure. This is acheieved in fixed switches, stackables, and modular switches.Refer URL
