Hi all,

Does anyone know if I can design a multihomed enviroment with a private ASn? I have a public ip range /24, but I don't have an ASN and I was wondering if it's possible to bgp peer to the ISP's with a private ANS and then for them to turn around and advertise my public routable ip to the internet.

Any insight would be greatly appreciate it.

Cheers!

Ask your ISPs. Some do accept this kind of arrangement.

Note your public IP range is likely PA category belonging to one ISP and this also has to be considered.

how did you acquire your /24 ip block? if you got it from an RIR, you could ask the RIR to assign you an ASN.. if your ISP gave you your IP address, you might have some problems there because if am not mistaking, the IP address that was given to you is non-portable.

strictly speaking, in order for you to setup multihomed network environment, you should be able to secure an ASN from a RIR. only then you could setup multihomed network environment
