ASR 1001 IOS XE upgrade

Dear All,

We have a cisco ASR 1001 router that is running with IOS XE Version: 03.06.00.S.  This router required to upgrade with 3.16.10S(MD). So would like to know that this IOS XE 3.16.10S(MD) support standard licencing or we need to change licensing from standard to smart licensing.

I would be grateful if you can share any cisco document that clarifies it as well.

IMPORTANT:  Please read the Release Notes very carefully.

From 3.6.X to 3.16.X, the ROMMON will need to be upgraded first before the IOS-XE firmware can be upgraded.  Recommend upgrade the ROMMON to 16.3(2r).

@Leo Laohoo - Thank you for the replay, will upgrade ROMMON as well. Presently we are using the standard license. Do we need to change it to a smart license as well?

hi,

the licensing structure remains the same.

smart license starts at IOS-XE 16.10.1a on the ASR1K.
