Ok, so I have dual sup's as seen in the show redundancy command:

1001-1#show redundancy

Redundant System Information :

------------------------------

Available system uptime = 8 hours, 53 minutes

Switchovers system experienced = 0

              Standby failures = 0

        Last switchover reason = none

                 Hardware Mode = Duplex

    Configured Redundancy Mode = sso

     Operating Redundancy Mode = sso

              Maintenance Mode = Disabled

                Communications = Up

Current Processor Information :

-------------------------------

               Active Location = slot 6

        Current Software state = ACTIVE

Uptime in current state = 8 hours, 52 minutes

Image Version = Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software (X86_64_LINUX_IOSD-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.3(2)S, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupport

Copyright (c) 1986-2013 by Cisco Systems, Inc.

Compiled Mon 25-Mar-13 15:39 by mcpre

                          BOOT = ,1;bootflash:asr1001-universalk9.03.09.01.S.153-2.S1.bin,1;

                   CONFIG_FILE =

        Configuration register = 0x2102

Peer Processor Information :

----------------------------

              Standby Location = slot 7

Current Software state = STANDBY HOT

Uptime in current state = 8 hours, 51 minutes

Image Version = Cisco IOS Software, IOS-XE Software (X86_64_LINUX_IOSD-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.3(2)S, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

                          BOOT = ,1;bootflash:asr1001-universalk9.03.09.01.S.153-2.S1.bin,1;

                   CONFIG_FILE =

        Configuration register = 0x2102

But there is no standby-bootflash:

1001-1#dir ?

/all             List all files

  /recursive       List files recursively

all-filesystems  List files on all filesystems

  bootflash:       Directory or file name

  cns:             Directory or file name

  flash:           Directory or file name

  null:            Directory or file name

  nvram:           Directory or file name

  revrcsf:         Directory or file name

  stby-nvram:      Directory or file name

  stby-rcsf:       Directory or file name

  system:          Directory or file name

  tar:             Directory or file name

  tmpsys:          Directory or file name

So I changed the boot comamnd to:

boot system flash bootflash:asr1001-universalk9.03.09.01.S.153-2.S1.bin

and reloaded, but it still doesn't load the correct version.

hbni-core-asr1001-1 uptime is 9 hours, 1 minute

Uptime for this control processor is 9 hours, 3 minutes

System returned to ROM by reload at 08:45:03 CDT Mon Aug 19 2013

System restarted at 08:48:03 CDT Mon Aug 19 2013

System image file is "bootflash:/asr1001-universalk9.03.09.00.S.153-2.S.bin"

Last reload reason: Reload Command

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Dan.

Figured out the boot system flash problem.

I had a boot system flash command before the boot system flash bootflash:/asr...

So it was loading the default ios from the flash first.

Still dont' know why there is no standby flash though..

I realize this question was asked a long time ago, but the ASR1001 does not have hardware redundancy. The ASR1006 for example has two physical RPs and each has their own DRAM, flash, CPU, etc. The ASR1001 uses software redundancy. So there is one Linux kernel running on one physical CPU. On top of this rides the IOSd process. The redundancy on the ASR1001 is two such IOSd processes and they both share the underlying hardware.
