bandwidth capacity for serial interfaces

what is the maximum capacity of WAN serial interfaces todays can be provided ?

hi,

the highest i've seen so far (and provisioned in our WAN environment) is a 4 meg.

Do you mean an interface on a Cisco router labeled "serial"?  I think I recall Cisco's HSSI might show as a "serial" interface - recall using one (years ago) for DS3 handoff - i.e. 45 Mbps.

ah yes, joseph is right.

we also have DS3s on our ASRs on a SPA card.

the 45 meg would be definitely the highest that can be provisioned for a serial link.

and if we talk about frame-relay and the maximum interface bandwidth can be provided nowadays with cisco devices !

does it support only up to 45 mbps ?

The available bandwidth of frame-relay depends on your WAN provider.  They might offer Ethernet interface hand-offs.  However a native frame-relay interface might be limited to DS3/ES3.

The HSSI interface appears it will support up to STS-1, 51.84 Mbps.

En la tabla 5, puedes observar que dependiendo del hardware que tengas el máximo ancho de banda varía.
