guys we have couple of WAN (IP links) with the service provider and service provider normally terminated 3750 switch at customer premises and then we have our 4500 or other switches connected to that link most of the CPE switch ports are layer three with IP address on it but i have noticed that every switch port on CPE has bandwidth command as well. Likeone of our site has 10M link and on CPE the bandwidth is 1000 is it Kbps and why we put this command as there is simple EBGP configured???

Thanks

Hi,

The 1000 that you stated to is in kbps, and the reason behind it seems to be what is the bandwidth alloted to a particular customer. This bandwidth is also significant in case of QOS, MRTG grapher, SNMP data capturing and sometimes IGP metics are related to the bandwidth alloted not the speed of interface.
