Does anyone have a link to some some documentation on the relationship between bandwidth and throughput? Maybe on how to calculate (formula) how much throughput you can get for a given bandwidth.
Also I can remember reading a cisco document a few years back where they added both in and outgoing traffic to get the total bandwidth of a link. Now this is confusing since in other literature if you have a T3 you have a T3 for upload and a T3 for download, not a T3 for up + download.

Generally, throughput = (user data / all data) * link speed. Use a traffic (data) flowing in a given direction for full duplex links. Link speed equals bandwidth for purposes of this discussion.
How much throughput one can realize depends on variables such as MTU, protocol overhead, path delay (latency), etc.
Hope this helps. Please rate it if it does.
