BGP aggregate address and more specific routes

Hi,

According to BGP case studies on Cisco website, "if we are aggregating a network that is injected into our BGP via the network statement then the network entry is always injected into BGP updates even though we are using "the aggregate summary-only" command".

I have tried on Cisco 2600 router with IOS 12.2-15.T16 enterprise software and found that the more specific routes were really suppressed. The output of "show ip bgp" showed the more specific routes were suppressed by a symbol "s" at the beginning of each entry.

Anybody knows from what IOS version there has been a change in BGP behaviour like described above. Where can I find a release note for this.

Thanks

duongla

From as far as I can remember, the behavior of the "aggregate summary-only" command has been to suppress all more specific prefixes including those generated using a network statement.

Hope this helps,
