C2960L-SM routing

Anyone know why I can't select my other VLANs for this routing ( I have 3)?  Also I don't see the routes when I run show ip route after adding them, applying and saving!  What's up with that?

Hello @johnchrapkowski

C2960L-SM  is a L2 Switch. No routing (L3) capabilities. What is the IOS image ?

Best regards

I thought so as well, but the documentation seems to indicate it can support up to 200 routes

Thank you, I thought this as well, but why would it have the GUI allow me to set these things?  Also some documentation seems to indicate it can do limited routing.

This image is from the Cisco docs on my exact switch:

As suggested this is an L2 switch, however you can try configuring command “ip routing” and then try show ip route.

-hope this helps-

Unfortunately I cannot, I can run the command and thats how I see thats it's not applying the routes, but I cannot edit from the CLI.  This is a 2906 L-SM  which is ONLY GUI configurable.  The config term command doesn't even exist in the CLI

Why you use gui'

Use cli and try add other vlan then use it for static route

MHM

This is C2960L-SM  SM=smart manage, which is ONLY GUI (not so smart if you ask me)

Even so

I think there is tab vlan you can add vlan anc it ip then you can use it in static route.

Now there is no vlan for static  because you dont add vlan.

MHM

I tried this (or I think I did).  I create a new VLAN (3) and added the port that this new device is connected to on that vlan 3.  I then added a route using interface to VLAN3 with next hop IP of the device (the device is a router by the way).

Thank you so much for the information but my switch is 2960L-SM

I'm going  to get a new switch.  I don't think this supports routing at all, or I have the wrong SMD loaded or something.  Thanks all

sure let us know how you progressing.
