I have a C3560 running 12.2(50) and connects to a Verizon FIOS modem, Motorola ONT1000JI. We're incrementing input errors on that switchport. If we disable inline power, via "power inline never" command, the interface stays up/up, we see packets in/out but we cannot connect through the ONT modem. If we enable inline power, browsing through the FIOS modem works, we incur input errors (1 every 10 seconds), but the "show power inline" doesn't show any consumption. Wierd??!!
Any ideas?

Hello Michael,
>> we incur input errors (1 every 10 seconds)
this makes me think it is a message of some protocol not understood by C3560.
is the unknown protocol counter that increments in this way?
You can probably be fine user traffic should not be affected.
About the power-inline aspects there is no clear explanation.
Hope to help

Giudseppe,
The problem seems to be physical- when traffic is increased through user downloads/user traffic, the frequency of the errors increase. They are "input errors" as seen via the "show interface" command- invalid ethernet packets.
