Hi,
BY default the config is noy saved in all this location it is saved in nvram.
If you recall when you run a command "wr mem" it just saves the config in nvram. So if you issue a command "sh configuration" you will see nvram config which will be same like start up config.
If you want you can save your config to different location other then nvram like to terminal or tftp server.

The configuration file is stored at the nvram: location. Do a "dir nvram:" and you'll find it as "nvram:startup-config".
The running configuration is in memory and is therefore not 'stored' in the same way (it'll disappear when you reload the router). The only way the config is saved is by issuing the "copy running-config startup-config" or "write memory" or just "write" command (You should really try to use the first of these as Cisco has said once that the others will disappear sometime..).
