Hi, would like to understand how should i calc the no of broadcast domain given in this diagram? Given that the routers is layer2 capable and is supporting the STP function of the mesh network of switches connected.

hello, anyone have any insights to the question?

Neither your posted question or your diagram provide enough information for us to be able to understand your question or to provide an answer to it. But in general the number of broadcast domains would be the number of vlans configured and operational.

As Rick notes, likely the answer is simply the number of VLANs. However, it's possible, but not usual, to have more than one VLAN on the same wire. If so, and if frames are untagged from the different VLANs, broadcasts would be visible to all the VLANs on the same wire. I.e. effectively you have "merged" such VLAN, although, to some extent, IP networks may constraint some traffic between different IP hosts.

Routers capable of doing L2, and acting as bridges, doesn't imply they are configured to do so, but even if they are so configured, all they do is extend the VLAN (like any other bridge/switch).
