I just saw a video where a guy had a Router, 4 Switches, and 4 hosts.
In his topology, the Router actually was considered the Root Bridge for STP.
Apparently the Router had a lower MAC Address than any of the switches.
Does this sound right???

Hi
Yes - It is possible/true that a router could become the root bridge either because as you have stated it has the lowest mac address or because the configuration has given the router the lowest priority.
This will only occur if the router has bridging/vlans configured.
Hope this helps

Alex
