Can one do MLPPP with 2xDS-1 (note not T-1)?

Hi,

Internet Service Provider will bring a circuit "Metro Private Line", which will be 3 x DS-3.

Question:
As far as bonding this as MLPPP, do you know if I should treat router interface cards and MLPPP config same as I would do with 3xT1's?

Hello Marlon,

attempting to use MLPPP with 3 DS3 links is not recommended for possible performance problems, for example I would not do it even on a C7200.

I would suggest to configure each DS-3 as an indipendent L3 link with its own /30 IP subnet and to rely on routing protocols to use all of them

This will give you the capability to use all links relying on CEF flow based load balancing with less impact on router's resources

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Sorry for my typo. I meant, can I do MLPPP with 3xDS-1 using same router, config as if it were 3xT1's?

I see documentation on router MLPPP config and it always talk about T1's instead of DS1's. I see there is a small, technical difference  between a DS1 and T1 so I want to make sure I avoid surprises ordering equipment for such MLPPP on DS1's.
