I am using a HWIC-4ESW (4 port FastEthernet card) on a Cisco 3845 to do decnet with a switch connected to it. I am running an enterprise version of the IOS which supports decnet, but I can't assign 'decnet cost #' to the interface. I see decnet commands supported on the card but there is no 'cost' command in that list. I am new to decnet. Is the problem associated with the code (which I doubt) or does it depend on the card? I could not find documentation which would help me figure this out.
Thanks in advance,
Ranjani

Hi Ranjani,
HWIC-4ESW is an etherswitch card and I believe, you can only configure them as switch(layer2) ports. You can create vlan (layer3) interaces, aka SVIs, and try configuring 'decnet cost' on the vlan interfaces. I think the IOS might be alright as it's showing 'decnet' as a valid option.
