Cannot adding IP to Interface to Gi interface in Cisco 2901 router

Hello
Recently installed EHWIC-4SG in Cisco 2901 router with v.15.6, when tried to adding IP to one of WIC port get the below error:
% IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links
How to assign IP to the ports

These interfaces are treated as switch ports. You need to configure the vlan interface and assign the IP to it.

EHWIC-4SG is a layer 2 ONLY line card.
The only place you can put an IP address is the VLAN.

you wont be able to, but you can create "interface vlan X" and add one of the WIC ports to that "switchport access vlan x"
