Cellular interface goes down after receiving multiple SMS messages

Hi, just noticed that the cellular interface on a cisco C1161X-8PLTEP, Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 17.03.04a, goes down after receiving what it looks like 25 unsolicited SMS messages in a matter of seconds, see info below. I searched and cant find any relevant information why the cellular interface is dropping after becoming full with 25 SMS messages. I tried looking at the DM-log but unfortunately I don't know how to display the log which is in bin format.

Is this a known issue when SMS storage is full, I don't have sms archiving on and I'm looking for a way to either reject SMS or have messages deleted automatically after x amount of days, I have search these solutions and have found nothing. I'm concerned with the cell interface going down when it receives SMS. I know I can delete these message manually and it might prevent the cell interface from going down until its full again. To me it seems odd that when the SMS capacity is full that the cell interface just dops, again I have dm-longs on but don't know how to display them, cisco docs never reference how to display them.

TIA, for any suggestions.

P

Just an update, I deleted the 25 SMS messages with cellular 0/2/0 lte sms delete "mesg ID" Note that the delete ALL did not work and the messages would be downloaded again.  I have to delete the sms individually.

Also I wondering is VZ just kept sending the same 25 SMS messages and with the poor signal currently on the device, if it somehow overwhelmed the signal causing it to reset.
