Cisco 2620 Router special characters in HT console

Hi,

I have a Cisco 2620 router which was not used for a while. I am planning to bring it up and running. When I connect this box to a hyper terminal with the default parameters(9600,8,none,1,none), I see all sorts of special characters like "rg> cg rg>" etc as I press the keys.

I am interested in wiping out everything on this box and install a new OS and do some testing,

Hi Srinivas,

It's possible that the 2620 is itself set to non-default console parameters.

I would suggest that you try various different baud rates on hyperterminal to see if they correspond with what is configured on the router.
