Cisco 2801 HIGH CPU Utilization

Dears,

need help in finding out the issue, regarding High CPU Utilization in router 2801.

users complain about internet disconnect.

Hi

looks like your overloading the device these are only fastethernet have you a gig switch behind it , 61% interrupt traffic , process switched hitting the cpu

also ssh very high 35% how many sessions are open to device

CPU utilization for five seconds: 99%/61%; one minute: 68%; five minutes: 65%

There are several reasons for high CPU utilization due to interrupts:

• An inappropriate switching path is configured on the router

• The CPU is performing alignment corrections

• The router is overloaded with traffic

• There's a bug in the Cisco IOS® software running on the router

• Voice ports are configured on the router

• There are active Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) interfaces on the router

• Too many packets are being punted from PXF to the Route Processor (RP)

Your CPU loading looks about "normal" for your traffic load and configuration.

Although 2801s have FE interfaces, like many ISRs, their capacity is less then their interfaces support at high loading.
