Hello,
I am new to this forum, if I have missed out any information please let me know. I am by new means a Cisco expert just looking to see if this is possible.
We have a 10MB Ethernet Line (For Internet access only) and a 2MB SDSL backup line. We have a Cisco 2821 and are looking to achieve auto failover.
Is there a way to monitor the Ethernet interface, in case the line goes down? I would then like the router to shut down the Ethernet interface automatically, thus taking it of the network. This would allow the sdsl to activate and all traffic to route over the SDSL line.
Regards
Kevin Barker
If it is not possible on this router, can anyone recommend a Cisco router that will.

Hi Kevin,
You need to configure static route with tracking. Here is the configuration guide
