Cisco 3750-X stops forwarding packets

Hi

We have 2 Cisco 3750-x(WS-C3750X-48) stacked as the aggregation for 2 firewalls in our network.

Last week suddenly these switches stopped forwarding packets throughout the network(From the firewalls to the upstream router).

It was look like the data-plane was failed because normally we could connect via ssh to the device but after issuing commands (for example : show running-config, show process cpu , . . . ) the device terminating the ssh session and we should reconnect and do nothing because after issuing the first command the ssh session was gone.

For the temporary solution we bypassed the switches and directly connect firewalls to our router.

Restarting the switches (unplug the power cord and re plug) looks like solved the problem but we want to know the reason and how to prevent that in the future?

Your solutions will be appreciated.

The device configuration has been attached.

Hello,

could be a bug...which IOS version are you running (post the output of 'sh ver').

Sometimes when the switch uptime has been very long (> x years) this can happen, a simple reload would then resolve the issue. Since you have reloaded the switch, you cannot see the uptime anymore, but maybe you remember the last time it was done ?

Hi

Thanks for the reply

IOS Version :

C3750E Software (C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.0(2)SE7

and the uptime was about 3 years.

What is the uptime of the switch stack?
There is a bug involving SFP/SFP+ ports when the stack has an uptime of >1 year. When this bug kicks in, traffic stops.
