CISCO 4221 - Using USB

I'm sorry. 2 hours without finding solution.

How to connect a 4221 router to my PC using USB port of the routeur and USB port of my PC.

Using "Cisco_usbconsole_driver_3_1.zip" don't create COM port.

I'm working in network since 30 years. CCNA certificated.

I don't find solution...

Thanks for all. Really.

If the cable isn't specifically a console cable, it won't work. It acts like a USB to serial converter. A regular USB A to mini USB will not work so far as I know.

Is it a Cisco branded cable? Do you have the driver installed prior to physically connecting the cable? It won't actually show the COM port until you connect it to a powered on router.

Thanks for your answer.

No, it's not a branded cable. Sorry.

In effect, in catalogs, I see it exist a USB - USB console cable.

So, we need to by one ?

Thanks for all.

Yes ! It's working fine.

I've found a CISCO console cable RJ45-USB (RJ 45: console port - USB : PC).

I've installed "CDM212364_Setup.exe" found on "https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/".

With Putty (9600 baud - 8 data bits - no parity - 1 stop bit - no flow control), using the right COM port, I can manage the routeur.

Thanks for all !
