Cisco 7606: High CPU

Q S Tahmeed

Hi Forum,

In recent time we observed that one of our routers CPU has spiked abnormally. Even though the amount of bandwidth passing through the Router has increased but its no where proportional to the spike in the CPU. About two weeks ago the overall CPU was less than 20%, which at present is around 40%-60%. A couple of days back it was hovering around 80%+ mark.

Approx BW passing through the router is around 13Gbps during peak times. This router doesn't hold eBGP full feed. It runs OSPF/BGP/Multicast/MPLS services along with few ACLs and no QoS. It also doesn't hold any direct client facing interfaces.

Hardware information along with some show commands are shared below:

Chassis: 7606

SUP: 2 x [WS-SUP720-3B + WS-SUP720 MSFC3 Daughterboard + WS-F6K-PFC3B Policy Feature Card 3]

10G LC: 2 x [WS-X6704-10GE + WS-F6700-CFC]

1G LC: 1 x WS-X6408A-GBIC + 1 x WS-X6516A-GBIC

Attached are show version & show proc cpu hist outputs. I googled through some of the links found under forums as well as under cisco's site. But haven't been able to figure out any specific reason.

Please suggest and feel free to query for any further logs/info.
