Cisco 871w Wireless Internet Randomly Goes Down

marlzzzzz

Level 1

About twice a day (that I notice) my wireless loses its internet connection.  All the wired machines continue to be connected to the internet but any wireless ones lose internet, though they maintain a connection with the router.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for figuring out what is going on?

Thanks!

Check the logs of the router.  If your logs keep repeating how Dialer0 interfaces keeps going up/down then your DSL modem could need to be checked.

I am not seeing that or any other telling errors in the logs.  BTW, when the wireless internet goes down the rest of the network still has internet.

Then do you see in your logs to show that the Dot11Radio0 goes up/down?

I am seeing an entry which says:

Packet to client 0012.0e64.ed38 reached max retries, removing client.

Does that sound like it could be it?

And to answer your question, no, nothing saying dot1 Radio goes down.

That error message normally means that the client has strayed too far away from the radio signal.

We often have 5-8 people connected and they all go down at the same time.  The signal continues to be available but the internet cuts out.  And I say the internet cuts out but this is only for wireless.  The wired computers still have internet.  Would you like to see a config file?

Can someone please take a look and tell me if they see something that might be causing this?

Thanks in advance.
