Hi,
I bought a cisco 887VAM router which using ASDL/VSDL as WAN port however i have virgin media which is not asdl it is cable and takes rj45.
How can i go about connecting the router?

You need a routed interface to work with the vrign connection, If a logical l3 connection like a bridge/switch virtual interface could be created then you could to attach the virgin connection into one of it lan ports, however i dont believe this is viable on that make/model of router.
The only other option would be to use another router with a compatible ethernet connection for the virgin box
