Hello,
Should the mentioned routers be powered off when inserting/removing the Cellular Pluggable Interface Module (PIM) during SIM install? I'm reading this document, but I cannot find anything related:
We are doing hardware refresh and I'm wondering if we could speed up the process with avoiding devices power offs. Our old devices are Cisco C899G-LTE-GA-K9. Can they be on during SIM removal?
Regards

cisco could add "hot swappable" somewhere in the doc, but, per experience and look the doc, we can say it is not required the device to be off.
There is a step by step procedure and we dont see any asking to turn the device off.
Another evidence is this warning "Do not touch any part of the exposed PCB circuit area when the Micro-SIM cover is removed."
Which means, they are considering the device ON, otherwise, would not be a reason to worry about circuit

The router does not need to be powered off to insert the SIM because of the way the Sierra Wireless modem is designed.
To insert the SIM, the modem will need to be removed from the router. This is a complete "reboot" of the modem.
However, the most important thing is the modem drivers. Always make the time to upgrade the modem drivers because they can do a lot of "stability".
