Cisco EPC3925 connection dropping off

Hi

I am in Slovakia and have tried to look for help here with my provider, as I dont speak the language here it has been challenging.

My Cisco EPC3925 EuroDocsis 3.0 2-PORT Voice Gateway connection keeps dropping off, the mode bandwith I use the more it drops off it seems. And the problem is completely intermittant. Router has been replaced and a guy came to test the signal and all is good.

Could it be something to do with all of my neigbours in this building using the same broadband?

I struggled with a similar problem. I installed Pingplotter Pro (free for 30 days) and saw that the problems occur every ten minutes EXACTLY: the Cisco vanished from the LAN, IP address was gone for a minute or so. That means: no Internet connection. The rest of the network was fine and fully functional. So it seems clear the Internet connection is to blame. This was not the case. So check out PingPlotter and if you recognize this behaviour please read on, otherwise I'm sorry I couldn't help.

First I blamed the Cisco router. After a lot of investigation, it turned out that the failure only occurs if my iOmega IX2-200 is connected to the LAN. Either this NAS or the router have some hidden script that interacts and causes the router to fail every ten minutes. Below you can see that after 9.30 when I disconnected the NAS, everything stayed stable.

My suggestion: really start with a plain cable connection from PC to router, connect no switches, no other devices and let Pingplotter run to monitor what happens. Then add a switch (if you have one), monitor, than add the next device, monitor etc.

Folks at iOmega are now figuring out if there is something running each ten minutes (All NAS-utilities were disabled). It could be a script on the modem as well but I have not been able to find info about that.
