Cisco Router 1841 problems

Hi all, could someone can help me with regards to the following:

The situation:

I have currently a Cisco 1841 router and approximately 20 PC?s and 12 RF hand held scanners.

Both PC and scanners run on a 250K leased line. The server is sitting at another site.

However in the last 3-4 weeks we have been experiencing a significant drop in access speeds over the WAN.

I have check to see if the line between the LAN and the server (on the other site) is busy and its sitting at approximately 30%-50% of its capacity.

Yet the LAN is also ok, but there is a lot of activity on it...

When I run a the show command on my serial I get the following:

The question is, is my router too small for the operation? Because it can?t process the packets fast enough or is there smoothing faulty with the router itself?

Any help or suggestions would be great! I am looking for a tool to see the strain on my router, does anyone have some to suggest?

Hi,

The current show interface output, doesn't reveal anything alarming, except for the CRC errors. Not sure whether it is incrementing in your situation. Have a watch on that.

Apart from that, the current utilisation level in that link is very low.

Do you have any link utilisation monitoring system in place. If so you can check the utilisation trend on this link and see if the traffic bursts during peak hours. If so it might be due to more need for bandwidth.

If bandwidth is not the congestion point, then start your troubleshooting step by step.

Ensure that you dont have any problem in the ethernet ( errors, speed/duplex issues).

It is tough to say whether you are choking the router/bandwidth with out having a knowledge of what kind of data traffic is happening between both the sites.

12 PC + 12 RF devices shouldn't eat more bandwidth. You can rule out this issue by observing the utilisation levels.

Apart from that, do your troubleshooting on the reliability of the Leased line, by using extended pings to the other end serial ips, to see if the latency is ok or if you are having any drops in the line, to diagnose it further.

Thanks for that, I?m using MTRG, would recommend any other tools which i could use?

Maybe the error could be on the switch? I have tested everything else?. it just gets so slow at times... i had the line tested numerous time and it all seems to be fine....

But, ill keep checking...
