In our company we have a Cisco RV016 router that we use with 4 WAN links: one optical fiber link and the other three are PPPoE links.
For a long time I was able to make this router work with the 4 links simultaneously balancing load between them.
However, about two weeks ago, while monitoring the connection of these links, I noticed that one of the PPPoE connections was out - not being able to get a valid IP number.
I have another Cisco RV016 router that I used to run multiple experiments. I connected two PPPoE connections: I updated the firmware with the latest version available on the site, I put different connection strings in the login, I disabled the firewall and none of that worked.
The strange thing is that by disabling the firewall, the two PPPoE connections worked for a while (afternoon, all night and early next morning), but by turning off the router and the two DSL modems I could no longer operate - using the same settings as the previous day with which it had been successful.
Would anyone have a solution to this problem?

Hello,
does the system log show anything (check page 137 of the attached user guide for information on how to view the log).

Hello Georg,
I did the test of connecting two PPPoE links. The log file is displayed after each action.

Thank you for helping.

Hello,
I am just thinking that maybe your access rules in the firewall settings restrict access somehow.
Can you check under 'Firewall --> Access Rules if 'All Traffic' is allowed 'Always' for the enabled interfaces ?

Hello Georg,
I created the rules under 'Firewall --> Access Rules' for the enabled interfaces (WAN2 / WAN3 / LAN).
Unfortunately this did not solve the problem.
The print screen of this setting and the log file are in an attached PDF file.
For easy reading I put in red and bold the lines dealing with the negotiation and connection with PPPoE links.
I realized that the problem may be happening on the line

Hello,
try and put the 4 devices that are providing the WAN connection in bridge mode, and check if that makes a difference...

Hello Georg,
I'm sorry for the delay in replying but we were on the carnival holiday.
Georg, the DSL modems are all already working in bridge mode. When they are used one at a time, they work perfectly.
If you notice in the pdf file the following lines:
Feb 24 09:41:34 2017 System Log [pppoe] HOST_UNIQ successful match
Feb 24 09:41:34 2017 System Log WAN connection is down
Feb 24 09:41:34 2017 System Log [pppoe] receiving PADS
I believe the problem might be related to this message:
[pppoe] HOST_UNIQ successful match
Because soon after that the connection drops.
Maybe it was a problem with more than one simultaneous authentication at the same provider? What do you think?
Thank you for helping.

Hello Nilton,
check if by any chance you have the 'Connect on demand' feature enabled (page 31 of the attached user guide). If so, disable it.
Also, check if the Keep Alive feature is enabled, which should make sure that your connection never drops.

Hello Georg,
Connect on demand was not checked. The Keep Alive option is already marked. It did not work.
I'm looking for other possible solutions.
I disabled Stateful Packet Inspection on Firewall. It did not work.
I configured some values for the MTU - network according to the links:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11927241/cisco-rv042-ppoe-problem
http://www.linksys.com/br/support-article?articleNum=141557
But it also did not work.
I am attaching the log which shows what happens when I try to connect the second PPPoE connection after each configuration described above.
For easy reading I put in red and bold the lines dealing with the negotiation and connection with PPPoE links.
Do you have any idea?
Thank you for helping.

Hello Nilton,
just a quick thought: do you actually have 4 different providers, one for each of the connections, or are the connections from the same provider ? Who are/is the provider(s) ?

Hi Georg,
I am from Brazil. All our providers are Brazilian.
Our configuration:
First Link: A provider with fixed ip and fiber optics. Provider name is Afinet.
Second Link: A provider with dynamic ip and PPPoE connection. Provider name is Oi Velox.
Third Link: A provider with dynamic ip and PPPoE connection. Provider name is Oi Velox.
Fourth Link: A provider with dynamic ip and PPPoE connection. Provider name is Oi Velox.
All three PPPoE links are from the same provider. Each of these links is associated with a different phone number. All have the same User Name and password.
By February 3 these three PPPoE links functioned normally. From that date it stopped working. I called this provider who just said they do not support routers. Support for routers is up to the customer.
Thank you for helping.

Nilton,
can you ask the provider to give you a different username and password for each connection ? I have a feeling that the problem is caused by something they did...

Hi Georg,
I called the provider and requested a different username and password for each connection. But they said there is only one username and password to be placed:
username = oi@oi password=oioi
I again explained the whole situation to the help desk and requested help for a more supportive level. But they told me that was the only possible support. Something that I think is very bad.
I did several tests putting different username and password for each connection. These different username and password I found on the internet in different forums.
The strange thing is that all connection strings can work with this provider. But the simultaneous connection does not work.
I agree with you that it is very likely to be a problem caused by something they did. I'm looking for more information about this problem. If you have new ideas they will be welcome.
Thank you for helping.
Nilton.
