we're converting from bridging into routing mode. While doing this, we have to turn on CRB for routing traffics but since then the bridging people start experiencing the intermittent Internet access outtage - sometimes couple hours or the whole day - then it clears up by itself. Aware of bug id CSCdk66082 which suggests to turn off "IP CEF" but doing this would slow down "routing" applications tremendously. Need to mention that all of these are done on the 3725 router connecting to ATM/Frame relay for 17 remote offices. Some offices have been converted to routing but many others are not. Any help, please ? Thanks.

You can turn off CEF, and run fast switching which works just about as well, at least in an enterprise environment. I looked at the bug, and it does not say you have to use process switching (no route cache), it just says turn off CEF.
int X/X
no ip route-cache cef
ip route-cache

Hi,
Try to understand which interface should I apply with your suggestion. This router has 2 fastEthernets connecting back to core switch 6509 and ATM intf with multiple pvc to remote offices. One Fe is in bridging and other is in routing mode. Why can't I turn IP CEF off globally ? Thank you very much.

Yes, you can turn it off globally, and check the routing interfaces to be sure they are using fast switching.
show ip interface fa0/0
