copy from one CF card into another CF card

hi,

I have a router configured so instead of redoing all the ios installs and vpn and such install I want to copy from my working 128MB CF card into a 256MB CF card.

so I remove the128 from my router, put the 256 and format the 256.

then take the 128, put it in my CF reader in windows and copy all the files into a folder that let's call it MYFOLDER

then I take the 256, put it in my CF reader in windows and from MYFOLDER I copy all the files into the 256CF card.

then I put the 256MB flash card that was originally formatted by my cisco 2811 router and reboot.

I've tried so many things and I always get this,

c2811 processor with 524288 Kbytes of main memory
Main memory is configured to 64 bit mode with ECC enabled

Readonly ROMMON initialized
program load complete, entry point: 0x8000f000, size: 0xc940
open(): Open Error = -66
boot: cannot open "flash:"
boot: cannot determine first executable file name on device "flash:"
c2811 processor with 524288 Kbytes of main memory

then I put the 128MB CF card back in, reboot and all is good.

put the 256MB CF card in the router and reboot and I get the error message again.

obviously I don't see myself deploying routers by manually doing all the config 1 by 1 it's just insane.

any ideas on how I can copy my 128CF card into a 256CF card and put it into a router and get it working?

I even tried formatting the CF using linux cfdisk fat format but still not working I keep getting that message over and over.

any real process that works??

thanks.

What is the brand of this 256mb CF?

apparently cisco and I tried with 2 CF cards and got the same result

I even tried with a 512MB and same thing

You mean it won't work with 512mb CF or 2 other cards?

Something's not right.  All my ISR G1/G2 routers have non-Cisco-branded CF and they work fine.  The main trouble is choosing with non-Cisco-branded CF to use.

Another thing, upgrade the 2800's bootstrap so you'll be able to boot the IOS from a supported USB stick.

yeah I tried with 2 x 256 mb cf and 1 x 512mb cf and I keep getting that message on top every time when I reboot the router with the new flash cards.

this is what I have btw,

ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.4(1r) [hqluong 1r], RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T8, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

but as soon a I put my 128 back into the router and reboot, all works just fine.

found my problem, it's called EBAY.

2 of the CF cards I bought are true cisco cards and they just worked on first try.
