Hello!
Can anybody help me to understand the difference between CPE configuration for MPLS vs VPLS?
I work for an ISP and we use MPLS with VRFs for our customers.
But this question is not related to MPLS and VRF implementation on the ISPs side, but on the customers side. On CPE routers you basically just assign the private IP address given by ISP and for example add a default route towards your ISP. That CPE router have no idea about any MPLS or VRF going on.
So my real question is related to VPLS implementation on CPE side. How is it different from the MPLS? Is VPLS using VRFs like MPLS?
Just a little confused about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
as far as I know, VRF's are not involved in the CPE side of VPLS. In the document attached, you will find a sample configuration for CE devices (scroll down to almost the bottom of the document, and look for the section below):
Example: Full-Mesh VPLS Configuration
