I am building a configuration for one of our customers and i was looking for some guidance as to which way we should go. This one is a little over my head.

Setup

2 x 30MB links (primary/secondary)

Configuration includes the following VLANS

  1. PCS – 60 users (10.10.10.0)
  2. ADMIN – 10 users  (10.10.20.0)
  3. VOICE-25 users (10.10.30.0)
  4. ACCOUNTING-7 users (10.10.40.0)
  5. POS-14 users (10.10.50.0)
  6. MANAGEMENT-8 users (10.10.70.0)
  7. GUEST WIRELESS (172.16.0.0) – Considering using the 2nd link for guest wifi

Customer has 890 cisco router/firewall, we will be upgrading to Cisco ASA 5505 and with 1841 behind it doing all the routing.

I don’t know if we need the 1841 or if the firewall can handle the passing the traffic.

Any input would helpful

Thanks

I don't see any issues with removing the 1841 from the topology. The ASA should be able to handle the load. It simplifies your design.

Also keep the 1841 spare in case you need it in the future for BGP, policy based routing etc.

Not going to work.  The 1841 can't handle the bandwidth plus how do you plan to terminate TWO (2) WAN links into the 1841?
