Hello, in all DMVPN documentation that I have consulted, EIGRP is always the recommended overlay routing protocol, also that DMVPN was mainly designed for EIGRP. Why is EIGRP recommended over BGP ?
one of the biggest reasons to use EIGRP is probaby split horizon, which can be disabled and thus allows a router to advertise a route through an interface that the router itself uses to reach the destination...
Cisco's proprietary (which pretty much locks you into only using Cisco devices) and premier routing protocol is EIGRP. Hmm, why would Cisco recommend it (and not just over DMVPN)? ;)
One possible reason for using EIGRP over BGP, perhaps faster convergence.
