DR site configuration

Hi.

We have a production site in Philippines that gets flooded once or twice a year.

We have setup a DR site, which will be configured with the exact IP addressing form LAN and exactly same ACL list for firewall.

What is the best way to configure the routers on each site to provide routes once the main site fails.

We are thinking of setting it up, so when you manually switch on the DR site router the routes to go via there.

Is this the best approach?

has anyone done this before?

Thank you

If both sites are WAN connected (DR and production) you could configure an L2TP link between them to extend the LANs at layer 2.  Then you could make both sites "hot hot".

How do the remote sites connect to the DC?  MPLS, VPN, or perhaps just running over the Internet directly?

Hi Phillip.

This is a site not a DC.

Other sites connect to it via our WAN provider thorugh their network.

The LAN IP's will remain the same on both sites. Only one will be in use.
