EBGP & IBGP

Hi All,

Please advise how can i know whtr my ibgp neighbor flapped or my ebgp neighbor.

Also, any doc for ibgp and ebgp. why ibgp is needs if i can redistribute the routes via OSPF or EIGRP.

I am confused : if we are running bgp--> we need ebgp, ibgp and IGPs as well ?

You could verify the status through: 

show ip bgp summary  (you will see the timers)

show ip bgp neighbor (you will see the status and additional information)

About the redistribution it depends, for example you are receiving routes from an ebgp neighbor or external client at your network edge and you want to advertise these learned networks to your internal infrastructure, you can redistribute them into the IGP (eigrp, ospf, etc).
