Howdy Experts!

am working with a NEW Environment needs Mutual Redistribution from EIGRP 2 OSPF and vise verca;with route-maps and Tag Route.I need explanation about these issue or a useful link that describe the above..

hi ali,

route maps are very useful in policy routing like...

let me give you one example...

router---- routerB

A ---- routerC

here router A is connected to both router B and router c... there is one hostP is connected with router A ethernet interface...

now think of it host a is generating the Telnet and FTP traffice now you want to let your Telnet traffic should pass trhough router B and your FTP traffice should pass through router C... here this cannot be achive by normal routing here you wanted to send two different TCP traffic from different path not on the same path...

now here using access list and rout map you can do it...

first of all in route map you are matching the FTP and Telnet traffic with the help of TCP port number and then you are set the next hop appropriately... in our case next hop for FTP traffic is router C and for telnet router B...

same thing is usefull in Quality of Service configuration ... by matching the appropriate traffic you apply the marking the traffic with IP precedance value...
